Huge day yesterday. It all began around 10:00. Sure, that's what time our tasting room opens but I was just getting ready to enjoy my coffee and newspaper. I'm sure a lot of you piss away the first hour or so of work before you get into accomplishing anything. Anyway, here I was taking my first sip of coffee when up pulls an SUV. Morgan and his wife Kristine were from Hood River. While they came in and tasted wine, their son, Payton napped in the car. I was just about to call child services on them but then they expressed interest in joining our barrel club. As it turned out, Payton woke up and hung out for a bit and his parents became our newest members of the barrel club. I'm very excited about this year's membership. Our annual Barrel Club Dinner is going to be the best ever.

I was busy in the tasting room all day and enjoyed every minute of it. Lee-Ann and her husband from Gig Harbor, kept me entertained during the only break I had all day.

As many of you know, Wind River Cellars Is known as one of the Northwest's best places to kiss. Yesterday a nice couple came into the tasting room. After selecting a few bottles, they took a stroll through the vineyard. Returning 30 minutes or so later, the gentleman announced that he proposed to his girlfriend and she said yes. I tried my best to talk them out of it but they seemed quite determined. I told them that it would never work but they wouldn't listen. In the end I had to just wish them luck. Sincere congrats to both of you. I'll try to post a nice picture of the happy couple next week.

Today is my birthday. I'm going to sit on my 41 year-old ass and watch the Seahawk game. The next time I get to sit on my ass I will be south of the border at the 9th annual Wind River Cellars "Holiday in Mexico" event. There's still time to book your reservation. If you're bored today, come on out and watch the game with me. At half time we can go out and taste barrels.

You make everyday feel like my birthday, Husum!

Joel
