We're off to Mexico. If you're coming I look forward to seeing you down there. If you're not then have a great holiday. Wind River Cellars will closed until early January.

Don't forget the big overnight event at Bonneville Hotspring Resort on January 6th. We will be doing a wine tasting followed by a "Meet the Maker" in the lounge afterward. IT WILL BE FUN.

Don't forget about Hooba's on New Years Eve. Call 509.493.4440 for more information.

Things I would like you to do while we're gone:

1) Get those dumb ass climbers off Mt. Hood.
2) Bill those dumb ass climbers for the expenses.
3) Make reservations for Hooba's New Years Eve and Bonneville January 6th.
4) Drink lots of Washington wine
5) Volunteer or donate money to someone who asks nicely.

We look forward to seeing all of you in the near future. Have a great Holiday. I'll try to let you know how the Wind River Cellars "Holiday in Mexico" is going.

You made 2006 the best year ever, Husum!

Today was to be the last event of the year here at Wind River Cellars. It was not to be, as I awoke to 6 inches. It's not often that I wake up to six inches. Kris and I were both quite suprised. Anytime we wake up and see six inches we know we have to just make the best of it and try to get things done anyway. Last week we awoke and saw twelve inches. All we could do was stare.

Unfortunately, this six inches cancelled the big port celebration we were suppose to have today. We figured that people would be too afraid of the six inches to want to drive up the hill. It started raining about an hour ago and the six inches started to get soft. It's more like four inches now and I don't forsee that increasing anytime soon.

One nice couple who was staying at the B & B at the bottom of the hill didn't seem to mind the six inches. They walked up to the winery and thought that the six inches was beautiful. I have to agree. Though it's hard to get things done with six inches, it sure is pretty to look at.

Wednesday we are off to Mexico for the 9th annual "Wind River Cellars Holiday in Mexico". I'm looking forward to the warm beaches. Most of the locals in Mazatlan have never seen six inches. I'm guessing that they wouldn't know what to do.

If you would like to take advantage of our free shipping before the end of the year, you must do it before Tuesday. You can call or email us. Though our UPS driver is also afraid of the six inches, we'll make sure your order will arrive by Christmas.

You haven't heard me talk about Hooba's too much lately. That's because when I first began talking about it, it was suppose to open around Labor Day. Well, we've just received word that Hooba's will be opening for New Year's Eve. We will be back from Mexico just in time to bring in the new year at Husum's newest fun dining hotspot. It will be a blast. If you would like more info on this event you can call Hooba himself at 509.493.4440. Hooba isn't intimidated by six inches. I think he could even get things done with eight inches. He can't drive his car very well with six inches so Kris has been nice enough to help him. He says that he can't get any traction with six inches, but I just think it's an excuse so he doesn't have to deal with the six inches by himself.

You make me homesick already, Husum!

Below is the picture of the elk I was telling you about. Again, if you hear someone talking about going up to "Elk Camp" for a week to go hunting, they're really just going up to Brokeback Mountain to be with their special friend. These animals are everywhere and not very hard to hunt.

I just returned from a great trip to Seattle. If you've ever read one of my blogs after I've returned from a tasting/bottle signing, you may have noticed that I've always been careful not to call it the best one ever. Oh sure, there's been some good ones but my favorite is still the Saturday in December that I spend in Des Moines, Washington at Corky Cellars. Ric and Diane, the owners, not only know what the Hell they're doing, they know how to have a good time doing it. I can think of several snooty, cork sniffing, glass swirling, apron wearing, name dropping, D!@#%heads that could dramatically improve their shops if they would just tone it down a bit and be more like Corky Cellars.

Twelve throbbing inches of thanks go to Hooba for watching the tasting room while I was gone. Kris, Hollywood, and Poison Rose went to Vancouver for a family holiday function where I met them Saturday evening. It's not even Xmas and I've already received two really cool gifts. One, a 2000 Grahams vintage port from my Ma-in-law, and the other, a six pak of beer from Morgan, Christina and Peyton, current barrel members. It could actually be said that Morgan, Christina and Peyton gave me six gifts. Does that mean they like me six times more than my wife's mom?

You keep me guessing, Husum!
