I just finished entering a full page blog ripping the woman who was in the tasting room Sunday and stole two wineglasses. That was the old Joel. In the spirit of one of my best friends, Alicia, I've decided to scrap that page of insults and leave it with a simple "You must have really needed two free wine glasses and I'm sure you're a very nice person." That's the new Joel. Alicia, you've made me a better person and I know you're laughing your ass off.
This has been a fabulous post-harvest party week. I have everything crushed and nearly put to bed. We've had a very rainy week and I've been waiting for dry weather to harvest Pinot Noir and Lemberger from Celilo. So far I've crushed Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Cab Franc, Tempranillo and Syrah. I only have the Pinot Noir and Lem remaining, which will be done tomorrow and Wednesday. They both look incredible.
MVP Josh was in town over the weekend. For those of you that were at the WRC Golf Scramble, Josh was the guy giving out all the prizes. Josh and I woke up Saturday morning with the intention of pressing off Syrah. No, Syrah wasn't Josh's date. Syrah is a red wine we produce. Unfortunately, the Syrah wasn't quite ready to be pressed so we went to plan B. Plan B was to go to Hooba's and watch football all day long. I love it when a plan B comes together. Josh also brought the long awaited tshirts that say "DON'T HASSLE ME, I'M A HUSUM LOCAL!" These tshirts are selling fast and you don't want to cop an attitude here without one. Thanks Josh.
I'm getting to that time of the year when I'll be spending a little more time in Seattle. Check this blog every week to find out where I'll be pouring wine, signing bottles and sitting in traffic.
I mentioned last week or the week before that I would be announcing the visitors of the year nominations. Sorry I havn't done it yet but I need to sit down with EOTM runner-up, Ryan to discuss his picks. I'm pretty sure I know who my favorite visitor has been this year and it's not the lady who stole the wineglasses.
Stay tuned for details of our Thanksgiving weekend. It will be huge, I promise.
The new Joel loves you just as much as the old Joel, Husum!
