Every year when we do our Library tasting, I always say I'm going to take notes and taste all of our past vintages slowly and methodically. Once again I found myself jumping right in the middle, going back and forth between varieties and forgetting where I set my glass. This means of course, that it was once again, a great time. We had a great turn out and I'm pretty sure everyone had fun. I especially enjoyed the group from the Vancouver Food and Wine Society that came out for a private tasting. It's a great organization that funds different educational programs for aspiring chefs and kids that wish to enter the hospitality industry. I'm not going to go off on you people that RSVPd and then didn't show up. That would be rude of me to cuss you out because other people who wanted to come couldn't. It wouldn't be very nice of me at all if I wish that bad things happen to you just because you were too inconsiderate to call and tell us you wouldn't be coming. I apologize to those of you who wanted to attend but couldn't because the event was full. In the future I may have to institute some sort of deposite for this free event.
If you were at the Library tasting I would love to hear which of the older wines were your favorites. I'll post some pictures of the event later today.
This is going to be a crazy week. Thanksgiving weekend is always one of our busiest and most fun events of the year. Come on out to the gorge and visit the many great wineries and taste the 30 or so different varieties. (Or you could just drive to the the traffic congested Willamette Valley and taste over-priced Pinot Noir.) Once again, I will be offering barrel samples of our '06 Tempranillo, '05 Merlot, '06 Pinot Noir and '06 Cabernet Franc.
You give us something to be thankful for, Husum!
