'06 Chardonnay will be released this spring. Fermented in stainless steal, this wine has been very well recieved by those who have tasted it.

We are at the tail end of our '04 Pinot Noir and '04 Tempranillo. The '05s are tasting great and will be released as soon as the '04s are gone.

We currently have 12 wines for sampling in the tasting room.

NOTE: If you're wondering what's up with with this lame assed entry, it's because I took some time to read some other winery blogs and found out that blogs are suppose to be short, humorless and really boring. From now on I think I'll pretend I'm a Pinot producer from Oregon.

First of all I'd like to announce that I am the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby. This will be made public very soon. I would have announced it over the weekend but we were so busy in the tasting room that I didn't have time.

Friday night Kris and I attended a benefit auction for our local school district. What a huge success. Wind River Cellars donated a case of wine per year for life and Chili Cook-Off participant, Sven was the highest bidder. That just might have given him an edge in next year's cook-off.

Saturday the tasting room was absolutely swamped and may have been a record wine sales day. Saturday evening we enjoyed an awesome five course dinner paired with WRC wines at Viento, in Bingen. I enjoyed the best lamb chops I've ever had. Stay tuned for future winemaker dinners.

Sunday in the tasting room was another zoo. Many visitors got the opportunity to taste the '06 chardonnay and the '06 White Port, both of which are going to sell out very fast. Get up here and get your name on the list.

You make three day weekends fun, Husum.

Have you picked up a bottle of Port of Celilo for your Valentine? If you forgot you can always tell him/her that you're going to drive them out to Wind River Cellars next weekend. The weather is suppose to be warm and nice and the weekend after Vday is always fun and busy. In addition to the twelve or so wines we will have available to taste, I will also be offering blog readers barrel samples. Call it my way of making you feel like you're not wasting your time by reading this.

Visitors over this past weekend caught a preliminary look at our newly remodeled tasting room. Though we were called out of town for a funeral on Saturday I did enjoy the many visitors we had on Sunday. I enjoyed pouring for the ferry boat captain from Tacoma, the three gals from Boston and New York and the nice couple from Kirkland.

We've been notified by the International Chili Cook-Off Federation that the winners of this years Husum Chili Cook-Off may have been hustlers. We were informed that some well respected names in the chili community go around to smaller chili events with their ringer recipe. This would be like Michael Jordan putting on a hat and glasses and going down to the local playground to get in on a pick up game. Stay tuned.

This Friday we will be pouring at the Gorge Grape Escape in Hood River. This is a fun event and a good fund raiser for White Salmon Schools. Saturday I will be at Viento in Bingen for a winemaker's dinner. Viento is one of my favorite restaurants and I look forward to seeing what they've matched with Wind River Cellars wines. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU CALL FOR A RESERVATION.

As usual, check our website for upcoming events. We've got some dandies.

You're my true Valentine, Husum.

There are three things that man needs to survive. They are music, chili, and football. This past weekend I was treated to all three. Friday night I tagged along with Hollywood, Poison Rose and a few of their buddies to the Everclear concert in Portland, Saturday we hosted the annual Husum Chili Club Chili Cook-Off and Sunday, well, Sunday is the most sacred of all days. Typically Superbowl Sunday here at the winery is very old fashioned and traditional. We wake up and sing Superbowl carols, dance around the Superbowl tree and then exchange Superbowl gifts. This year Hollywood and P.R. had snowboard races so we had to celebrate later in the day. (BTW-they recieved silver and gold medals respectively.)

The chili cook-off was a lot of fun as usual. We had a great turn out. Congrats to the creators of "Harry's Chili". They seemed to have won by a landslide. (Though there were some suspicious circumstances) Last year's winner, Savannah Story made a respectable second place showing. As usual, the chili cook-off was a great time and continues to be one of my favorite events here at Wind River Cellars. Check our website for future events.

Speaking of future events, we will be hosting a port celebration soon. Originally the event was going to be held in December but if you'll remember I awoke to six inches. (Check blog archive for details) Once again we will be offering an amazing deal on our award winning Port of Celilo.

As I posted a few weeks ago, we are very low on our '04 Pinot Noir. Get it now while it's still around. I just may offer a special discount for anyone that gets thru the mudbog that is our driveway. FREE CARWASH WITH EVERY CASE PURCHASE.

I still have a lot of blending to do. Come on up and put your two cents in. I don't like to taste alone. (Though I'll do it anyway)

I love you just for the commercials, Husum!
